Ezra and Followers Arrive to Israel

On the 28th of Tammuz 348 BCE (July 20, 2009) Ezra and followers arrive to Israel

”This Ezra ascended from Babylon, and he was a fluent scholar in the Law of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel had given, and the king granted him his entire request, according to the command of the Lord his God upon him.” Ezra 7:6

Ezra led about 5,000 exiles living in Babylon to their home city of Jerusalem in 348 BCE Ezra reconstituted the dispersed Jewish community on the basis of the Torah and with an emphasis on the law. Ezra's knowledge of the Torah is considered to have been equal with Moses. Like Moses, Enoch and David, Ezra is given the honorific title of "scribe" and is referred to as עזרא הסופר, or "Ezra the scribe" in the Jewish tradition.
